Voting: how does that work?
- You will receive your voting pass no later than Thursday, May 23
- Take your voting pass and proof of identity with you to the polling station. The ID may have been expired for a maximum of five years. Look at 'valid until'. Does it say June 7, 2019? Or a date after that? You may then still use the ID to vote.
- You hand in your voting card at the polling station. Also show your ID to the polling station member.
- You will receive a ballot paper at the polling station. This lists all parties participating in the election. This also lists all the candidates for whom you can vote.
- You take the ballot paper with you into the voting booth. The vote is secret. The voting booths in the polling station are positioned in such a way that no one can see who you are voting for.
- Use a red pencil to color the circle in front of the name of the person you want to vote for.
- You can also leave the ballot paper blank. That's called ‘blank voting’ or ‘blanco stemmen’.
- Fold the ballot so that no one can see your choice.
- After this, put the ballot paper in the ballot box.
Delivery voting passes
The voting passes will be delivered to residents of the municipality of Diemen no later than Thursday, May 23. Have you lost your voting card or has it been severely damaged? Then you can request a replacement voting card. This can be done in writing until Monday, June 3, 2024. You can also visit the town hall for a replacement voting card. This is possible until Wednesday, June 5, 2024, 12:00 noon.
Blank votes
Do you not want to choose a candidate, but do want to exercise your right to vote? In this case, you go to the voting booth, but do not choose a candidate.
Your blank vote has no influence on the distribution of seats. A blank vote or an uncast vote therefore does not go to the largest party. A blank vote does count in determining the total turnout of the elections.
