How are the votes counted?

Voting closes on Thursday, June 6 at 9 p.m. The members of the polling stations then start counting the votes. You can come and look at this. The chairman of the polling station ensures that counting runs smoothly.

Counting the votes

On Thursday, June 6 after 9:00 p.m., only a provisional count at party level will be carried out. The municipal polling station carries out the final count of the votes (per list and per candidate) the next day.

Particularities

The counting of the following polling stations will take place on Thursday evening at a different location:

What happens after the votes are counted at party level?

The day after the vote, there is a public meeting of the municipal polling station at the town hall. The hearing starts at 9:00 p.m. During this public hearing, the votes are counted per party and per candidate. By counting all votes from the polling stations in the town hall, we can carry out more checks. After the count by the municipal polling station, the vote totals are determined at municipal level. The counting of votes is public. You are welcome to come and have a look.

After the municipal polling station has counted at party and at candidate level, the official reports are published on the website.

Rules for counting votes

Counting is carried out exclusively by members of the polling station and counters appointed or designated by the municipality. You may not hinder the counting process or the polling station members. If you think something is not going well during the counting of votes, please report this to the chairman of the polling station. This person will make a note of this in the official report.
