Am I eligible to vote?
The European Parliament elections will be held on June 6, 2024. The Members of the European Parliament are elected by the residents of the European Union. You vote for the Dutch members of parliament.
The election of Members of the European Parliament is held once every five years. A fixed number of parliamentarians comes from each Member State, depending on the number of inhabitants. The European Parliament represents the residents of the Member States at European level.
Who can vote?
You may vote for the European Parliament in the Netherlands if you meet these conditions:
- You have Dutch nationality or the nationality of another EU member state.
- You are 18 years or older on June 6, 2024.
Can I vote in the Netherlands as a non-Dutch EU citizen?
If you are a resident of the municipality of Diemen, you’ve had until Tuesday, April 23, 2024 to register as a voter digitally or in writing. Requests received after this date cannot be processed for this election.
Voting in your country of origin
Do you want to vote in the EU country of which you are a national? Then you must indicate in that country that you want to vote as a voter abroad. You may not cast your vote in the Netherlands and you will not receive a voting card. You do not have to report anything to the municipality of Diemen.
